Confederations Cup: Edinson Cavani’s 30-Yard Freekick Equaliser Against Italy Is Worth Another Look (Video)

Italy came out on tops in the Confederations Cup third/fourth play-off game which took place a couple of hours before the main event at the Maracana, though it took another penalty shoot-out for the Azzuri to emerge victorious – Gianluigi Buffon putting on a bit of a masterclass and saving three penalties in the process.

That said, there was nothing Gigi could do about Edinson Cavani’s superb freekick equaliser, which the Napoli forward rattled home in the 78th minute – just five minutes after Italy had taken a 201 lead through a devilishly handsome freekick of their own (more on that in a moment)…

As previously mentioned, former West Ham and current Cagliari striker/sea-faring hobo Alessandro Diamanti scored an equally sumptuous set-piece belter ever so slightly earlier in the game…
