PFC Sevastopol registered a respectable draw with third-place Dnipro in the Ukrainian Premier League on Saturday evening, though they have their fans to thank for it as Dnipro’s “12th man” put in the defensive performance of his life.
With Dnipro on the attack, the Sevastopol supporters brought the move to an abrupt halt when they suddenly began bombarding the pitch with a hail of lit flares and torn-up stadium seating…
Worked like a charm! The referee immediately suspended the game and ordered the players to the centre of the pitch, before restarting it ten minutes later after the brouhaha in the terraces had simmered down.
Apparently the flaming ruckus was a protest against Sevastopol director Viktor Moskvitina, who failed to follow up on his promise to provide travel arrangements for fans for the club’s previous game against Metalurg Zaporizhya – which all seems a little OTT to us, but hey ho!
