Luis Suarez Cons Soft Penalty With Another Ridiculous Dive vs Argentina (Video)

Uruguay beat Argentina 3-2 in Montevideo last night thanks to goals from Edinson Cavani, Cristian Rodriguez and a self-won penalty from Luis Suarez, with the Liverpool striker doing his usual “collapsible legs” routine to con a super soft spot-kick out of the oblivious referee after waiting to feel the faintest of contact from his marker…

*Sigh*

Despite their win over a Messi-less Argentina, the result wasn’t enough to book Uruguay a berth at the 2014 World Cup as both Chile and Ecuador sealed qualification on the night with Uruguay finishing fifth in the table, level on points with Ecuador but behind on goal-difference.

This means that Uruguay will now face a play-off tie against Jordan next month, so it’s fairly certain we’ll be seeing them in Brazil sooner or later.

Im pretty sure Uruguay finnished 5th?

Otherwise it would be quite harsh only letting two South American teams advance to the WC..

  2. syndex says:

Do you remember the promise he made to behave ? that lasted a long time.

  3. Scruff says:

Okay, but seriously, who the fuck was refereeing that match? Awful, awful job on his part.

  4. dice101 says:

    what an absolute cunt…

  5. Ryan says:

Too many weak defenders, some one needs to step up, take a red card and teach this tw@t a lesson. What’s Ben Thatcher doing these days?

  6. Kieran Kilcline says:

It’s not a dive that’s simulation the defenders has his arm on Suarez has made the most of it to take his team to the World Cup

    • Chris says:

@Kieran: It saddens me that people actually think there’s anything to distinguish the two these days. If you fall to the floor when you haven’t been physically knocked or tripped over then it’s a dive and it’s cheating. Simple.

  7. Peters says:

pretty clear that the argentine defender who headed it away was always going to get their first.. can make the argument that both suarez and the other guy came together in the box but to give a pk?? why does the player who always falls to the floor get the benefit of the doubt?

  8. jimbo says:

go fuck yourselves. if this was wayne rooney you’d be jizzing all over the ceiling

  9. Mustapha says:

It is pretty obvious that he was pushed in the back. It is impossible to see from this camera angle but the Argentinians defender’s left arm is pushing Suarez in the back. Penalty.

  10. Fick Fufa says:

Yet another reason I won’t be watching anything related to the World Cup.

  11. Miichael says:

He cheats, he dives, he’ll eat your arms and thighs, Luis Suarez, Luis Suarez!

  12. Jarren says:

Suarez plays with his heart on his sleeve and it’s clear he loves his country, but if there are any Uruguayans reading this can I ask them…

Do you really feel comfortable watching your star player cheat so much?

  13. AC says:

Firstly, you can’t conclusively say it is a dive without seeing all camera angles, irregardless of who the player is.

Secondly, to biased w@nks like Jarren and everyone else that bags Suarez, instead of jumping on the w@nker bandwagon, try calling each scenario for what it is rather than hating on one particular player. Jarren – if you’re going to ask Uruguayans about whether they are comfortable watching Suarez cheat so much, you should also ask the same to…

    1. Brazilians – Neymar’s dives are more theatrical and pathetic. Also, remember Rivaldo at World Cup 2002?

    2. English – Ashley Young

    3. Welsh – Gareth Bale

    4. Italians – Fabio Grosso against Australia in World Cup 2006

    5. Spanish – Iago Aspas kicks and headbuts while playing for Celta Vigo

    6. Brazilian/Spanish – Diego Costa spits on opposition while playing for Atletico Madrid

    7. Irish – Roy Keane

As you can see ‘cheating’ and unsportsman-like behaviour will always be present in football. Simply castigating one person more over another that is just as bad only makes you look more of an uneducated tool.

  14. Terry Shedingham says:

    @AC
Bloody hell, are you his mum or something?

  15. Marlon says:

So he trips over the defender’s leg, appeals like every striker seems to these days and the ref gives it. Sadly this is nothing new from Sunday league through to WC level. How about a post on serial divers that’ve snuck under the radar?

  16. AC says:

@Terry Shedingham you leave my Louie alone. He a good boy. He just hungry sometimes cos his wife dunno how to cook.

  17. TravisKOP says:

@AC Roy keane is a bloody saint you leave him alone!
