Germany won the U20 Women’s World Cup last night thanks to a 1-0 victory over Nigeria in the final but it could have been oh so different had Nigerian forward Asisat Oshoala been able to contain her enthusiasm.

With the score deadlocked at 0-0 and with the clock ticking over into the 86th minute, forward Loveth Ayila poked a headed rebound past the flailing German ‘keeper which was well on its way toward crossing the line and therefore pretty much guaranteeing Nigeria both the game and the tournament.

However, Oshoala then sprung into action, stuck her oar in from and offside position and nudged the ball over the line – meaning Loveth’s potential World Cup-winning goal had to be disallowed…

The game then went to extra-time, with Lena Petermann scoring in the 98th-minute to win it for the Germans.

Bum.

We’ll just leave this here…

Let that be a lesson to you all.

Good lord, what a stupid, selfish play. Probably an accident…but if you are playing at that level you need to know better than to swing at that ball. Yikes, I bet she’s going to feel like shit for a long, long time.

Never have seen that Nani bullshit. What a waste of a great goal.
