Look Before You Leap: Coritiba Striker Joel Celebrates Goal By Accidentally Falling Down Large Hole (Video)

Coritiba striker Joel scored a couple of goals in his side’s 3-1 win over Sao Paulo in the Brazilian Campeonato last night, though the forward was lucky to end the night with his lower body intact when he came a cropper in the act of celebrating his second strike of night.

Having rounded the Sao Paulo ‘keeper and rolled the ball home, Joel ran towards a large Coritiba flag laid out on the floor behind the goal and promptly leapt over the advertising hoardings onto it in order to go and celebrate closer to the fans.

However, the massive Coritiba flag just so happened to be obscuring the entrance to the Estadio Couto Pereira’s pitchside tunnel.

The rest, as they say, is pure slapstick gold…

Ouch. Look before you leap and all that. Those poor stadium officials were trying to warn him!

Joel isn’t the first Brazilian striker to do himself a physical discourtesy on a unfortunately-placed flight of steps…
