In the same game that saw Norwegian prodigy Martin Odegaard become the youngest ever player to feature in a European Championship match at the tender age of 15 years and 300 days old, Norway (and Celtic) midfielder Stefan Johansen did his level best not to get overshadowed – displaying his tough-tackling prowess with a textbook slide tackle on Bulgarian coach Lyuboslav Penev’s standing leg…

For the record, a minor shove and a quick “f**k off you c**t!” later and Johansen was shown the yellow card for his troubles.

We’re not overly au fait with the statistics, but we can’t imagine the number of players who have been booked for going in hard on a manager is that high?

Looks like he’s sliding to keep the ball in play and the contact with Penev is incidental. He doesn’t raise his leg or show studs or anything like that. Not sure where this yellow card comes from. Penev should probably stand further back from the touch line if you ask me.

Why is that a booking? He slid off the pitch into a man who had chosen to stand there. He wasn’t tackling anyone. The chap shoving him should have been booked however.
