In a bid to help Maarten Stekelenburg cope with his reflexes vis-a-vis late divots and bobbles, Monaco’s goalkeeping coaches have devised a fiendishly clever drill using nowt but a ball and a security barrier tipped on its side…

Well, we’re impressed anyway – small things please small minds, after all.

Although, granted, it’s not quite as impressive at Petr Cech’s “tennis ball” training regimen…

    Thats actually a very similar drill to the one used in cricket to train people to catch in the slips (though there are specially made “slips machines” built for the purpose). Seems pretty suitable really!
