With his side 3-2 up against Deportivo Cali in the Colombian top flight on Sunday evening and with just one minute of injury time left to play, Medellin forward Elton Martins decided it was a good time to get all cocky and start balancing the ball between his shoulder blades.

Despite having only come on for the last 10 minutes and having no hand in any of the goals, Elton controlled a long pass with his chest before flipping the ball onto his back – only to get knocked onto his arse for his troubles…

Good to see Elton receiving the Kerlon treatment there.

Remember Kerlon? He was the former Cruzeiro youngster/flash-in-the-pan Youtube star who was forever having his legs swiped from underneath him by defenders and causing minor brawls for attempting his trademark “seal dribble”…

Think we’d have poleaxed the little git too, to be perfectly honest.

I would argue that the shoulder blade settle was not just for show. It allowed him to roll the ball down behind him thus shielding it from the defender. He got away from the defender as well, and was fouled whether it was called or not. good skill

Bit disappointed, was hoping for a really “Kerlon-style” tackle, but that was actually much less than what he deserved.
The Kerlon video made this post worth it though, absolutely love it!

  3. Peter says:

What? Are you saying that it’s right for players to kick and foul players like Kerlon for having fun during a ‘GAME’ of football?

  4. tom the bees fan says:

Am I missing something? What’s wrong with what he did, I just see a player getting fouled.

  5. Nuno says:

I’m all about objectivity of the game. That’s not just having ‘fun’, that’s mocking the opposing team! A good dribble is great to see. A guy balancing a ball on his head is for the circus or the freestyle competitions.

  6. Marlon says:

Let’s kick skill out of football.
