The toast of European football only a year or so ago, Jurgen Klopp has seen his Borussia Dortmund side utterly collapse this season in the Bundesliga.

With a relegation battle already staring the Black and Yellows in the face, the 2012/13 Champions League finalists lost again, this time at home to Augsburg (1-0), who even had a player sent off midway through the second half. That defeat sees Klopp’s side bottom of the Bundesliga, a situation which is pretty incredible.

After the Augsburg loss on Wednesday, Dortmund Mats Hummels and Roman Weidenfeller went to try and placate their fans, as a rather shellshocked Klopp himself looked on. Bizarre scenes.

  1. Vasko says:

What the hell happened to them? I don’t follow German football closely enough but how can a team with so many quality players and such a brilliant manager who were competing for top honors just last season fall apart like this?

  2. LBRL says:

Losing Götze and Lewanowski are big goals to replace. Credit to the Dortmund players for fronting up though.

  3. Per says:

Great manager, great players, great fans, great club. This is just heartbreaking.

  4. Ryan says:

I agree with @LBRL well done to the players for facing the fans. Wayne Rooney should take note, don’t curse at your detractors, calmly face them. I hope Dortmund can turn it around and save their season.
