Orlando City Kaka Soccer

Eight years ago Kaka was voted the best player in world football and given a Ballon d’Or after winning a Champions League with AC Milan.

Six years ago Real Madrid were happily breaking the world transfer fee record to sign him for a whopping £56million.

Four years ago, he was playing American football with Hollywood A-lister Mickey Mouse.

Two years ago, Kaka was making an emotional return to Milan, where he was greeted with open arms and tear-stained eyes by fans who never wanted to see him go in the first place.

Six months ago Kaka was mobbed at the airport by hordes of excited fans after signing for Orlando City FC.

Five-and-a-bit months ago he was returning home on loan to Sao Paulo to a prodigal son’s welcome.

Now he’s making his Orlando City on a park pitch in front of, as the Independent put it, one man and his dog…

Oh Rickie.

Apparently Kaka turned out for Orlando reserves in a friendly game against FC Dallas which took place in front of “less than 50 onlookers” on a local sports field.

The Brazilian did, however, manage a debut goal – scoring a penalty in a 4-0 victory.

Thanks Jesus.

For the record, this was a closed scrimmage.

  2. JoLeyden says:

This is the third time I’ve seen lazy journalists neglect to mention that this was a CLOSED-DOOR scrimmage. Did all of you receive information from some bitter NASL staff who wanted to smear another USL club that got promoted ahead of one of their franchises? Are none of you familiar enough with google to actually look up the club’s official releases about it?

  3. Anonymous says:

a scrimmage? you mean a friendly, right?

  4. Jeff Thompson says:

My wife and I drove 35 miles to see this practice and were turned away. BIG guards, Large sign “Closed event”, 6′ fence around the multi acre private facility. there were no dogs. This is an attack piece and should be covered under the U.K.’s hate/slander speech laws. Poor job repeating a poor story.

  5. Jwanna says:

Gee don’t bother mentioning is was closed to the public.
Or that there are over 7000 RSVP’s to the open practice at the Citrus Bowl on Saturday.
    Way to phone it in.

Great journalism buddy, watch a video and do absoultely no research on it. Then write a piece containing misinformation and biased opinions with no base. I wonder who has really fallen from grace, Kaka or a dimwit bloggning fool like yourself?

  7. Kelly White says:

The first event open to the public is tomorrow. Good reporting dickhead…

  8. ChrisCan says:

@Anonymous Not even really a friendly. This was truly a scrimmage in a closed door practice session.

Must say I’m disappointed, Pies. A quick trip to the MLS website would have cleared that up.

  9. Stringer says:

Angry Americans everywhere. You lot realize this is a site that plays in a fair bit of banter? Also we dont say ‘scrimmage’ in this sport we say friendly. I know the lot of you are new to the game, thought I’d help you out, cheers!

  10. ToonArmyTX says:

Wow Pies, I usually expect better from you. This seems like nothing more than an attempt to disparage American supporters when the most basic of research would have told you that NO ONE was allowed to see this and that there was actually a LOT of interest from supporters.
