With absolutely zero hint of bias, Pies humbly present to you the best goal ever scored in an FA Cup Final without question.
We are, of course, talking about Stuart Pearce’s ballistic free-kick in the 1991 final against Tottenham at Wembley.
The free-kick came about when, having already studded Forest defender Gary Parker in the nipple earlier in the game, Gazza then infamously butchered Gary Charles with a similarly horrific lunge (ultimately destroying his own knee in the process) on the edge of the Spurs box with about 12 minutes on the clock.
After taking several further minutes for the mist to clear, a stone-faced Psycho stepped up and stuck a blistering rasper past Erik Thorstvedt and into the top corner to put Forest 1-0 up – the assist definitely going to Lee Glover, who manhandled Garry Mabbutt out of the defensive wall to make enough room for Pearce to shoot…
Forest then went on to win 2-1 at the death, Des Walker scoring a dramatic winner with a divine stooping far-post header in the 94th minute.
At least that’s how we choose to remember it anyway.
