Spotted by one of Pies’ favourite football writers Adam Hurrey (@FootballCliches), an own-goal of truly epic proportions was scored in the Isthmian League game between Thurrock and Romford on Tuesday night.

It should be noted that Thurrock’s Ship Lane ground was besieged by surging winds, which made play incredibly difficult all evening.

With Thurrock’s goalkeeper having already almost scored an own-goal direct from a goal-kick, it was right-back Kamarl Duncan who finally fell foul of the gale force conditions when his simple clearance got caught in a gust and somehow ended up nestled in the back of his own net.

Alas, it all seemed to happen in slow-motion. Thar she blows…

Thurrock 0-1 Mother Nature*

(The game actually finished all square at 1-1, thus partially sparing Duncan’s blushes)
