Spare a thought for poor old Lazio ‘keeper Federico Marchetti, who somehow managed to do himself a mischief in the act of celebrating his side’s opening goal in Monday night’s Serie A clash with Sampdoria.

Moments after Alessandro Matri put Lazio ahead in the 78th minute, Marchetti appeared to wrench an ankle as he cavorted over to the touchline to celebrate with his teammates…

Little did Lazio realise, it was all about to get worse. Quite a lot worse, in fact.

Having signalled to the bench that he was unable to continue, the home side used their third and final substitution to replace Marchetti with reserve ‘keeper Etrit Berisha.

Having managed to keep a lid on things for all of 10 minutes, Berisha suffered a momentary rush of blood to the head in the 92nd minute when he came yomping out of his box and poleaxed Sampdoria striker Luis Muriel, escaping with a yellow card.

Ervin Zukanovic then stepped up and swept the resulting free-kick home past Berisha to snatch a point for Sampdoria at the death…

…thus leaving the Samp boys free to celebrate in style…

What a bleedin’ palaver!
