A referee’s lot is undoubtedly a hard one, particularly down in the muddy depths of the Italian Ninth Division.
During the weekend’s clash between Castel San Niccolo and Fortis Arezzo, the man in the middle showed remarkable coolness after being assaulted by a player.
The incident occurred after a player was shown a red card. Rather than simply walk off the pitch with head bowed, the player lost it and aimed a monumental kick at the legs of the referee.
However, the official took the hefty boot in his stride and continued to keep his cool as the player was eventually shepherded off the pitch by team-mates..
