After another unentertaining knockout game, Portugal booked their place in the last four of Euro 2016, via a penalty shoot-out against Poland.
In normal time, Robert Lewandowski finally got off the mark, netting after just two minutes. However, teen sensation Renato Sanches leveled things up just after the half-hour mark.
Cristiano Ronaldo endured a disappointing game, failing to make the most of a couple of very decent chances.
In extra-time, a pitch invader provided more excitement than the 22 players, with the loon in question looking to have been heading for Ronaldo (who side-stepped him superbly) before being tackled by the stewards, who really shouldn’t have let the man make it onto the pitch in the first place.

The game ultimately went to penalties, with Poland facing their second shoot-out in a row, after winning on penalties against Switzerland. Ronaldo, who fluffed a spot-kick against Austria earlier in the competition, coolly fired home, before Lewandowski netted his penalty.
Then, with the shoot-out score at 4-3 to the Portuguese, Jakub Blaszczykowski, who has impressed throughout the tournament, saw his effort superbly saved by Rui Patrício.
Sub Ricardo Quaresma, who was the match-winner in his side’s 1-0 win against Croatia in the Last 16, then stepped up and converted the decisive penalty to send Portugal through to the semi-finals.
While Portugal find themselves in yet another Euro semi-final, despite winning just one game in the competition, Poland go home after what was still a decent run.
