Poor old Luxembourg came close to claiming a precious point in their World Cup qualifier against Bulgaria on Tuesday.
Having netted an equaliser in injury time (to make it 3-3) courtesy of a superb Florian Bohnert, the minnows then watched former Aston Villa and Celtic man Aleksandar Tonev net a stunner to win the game for the hosts.
With Bulgaria headed for a 3-2 win in this Group A game, Luxembourg’s Bohnert bagged a superb goal in added time which looked like earning a point for the visitors.
However, Tonev, who endured a disappointing spell with the Villans, broke their little Benelux hearts with a last-gasp cracker…
What drama! Still, a very decent display from Luxembourg who certainly look to be improving.
