The rebirth of Mario Balotelli starts here! Making his Ligue 1 debut for OCG Nice against Marseille on Sunday evening, the ex-Man City and Liverpool flop netted a brace to help his side to a precious 3-2 win at the Allianz Riviera.

Playing his first game for Nice since moving from Anfield on a free, the Italian striker took only seven minutes to open his account, converting a spot-kick despite being goaded by Marseille’s Bafetimbi Gomis…

Balotelli bagged his second of the night on 78 minutes to level the scores at 2-2.

Jamie Carragher’s bezzie mate nodded home after a superb cross from Ricardo Pereira…

Balotelli’s goals would help Nice to a 3-2 win on the night, after Wylan Cyprien scored a late winner.

He has now scored as many league goals in 78 mins of Ligue 1 action as he had previously managed in his last 2 seasons combined.

For all the hype (and disappointment) surrounding Balotelli, the striker, who is still only 26, remains a genuine top talent. Let’s hope he can make the most of his undoubted gift before its too late.
