A Ciarán Kilduff goal secured an historic win for Dundalk in Tallaght on Thrusday night, with the sub’s goal firing the League of Ireland champions to a 1-0 win against Maccabi Tel-Aviv. Courtesy of that strike, Dundalk became the first Irish side in history to secure a Europa League group stage victory.

The Irish side, playing at Shamrock Rovers’ home ground, impressed in the first 45 but it took until the 73rd minute for sub Kilduff to finally make the breakthrough, courtesy of a volley from a Daryl Horgan centre.

That goal came on Kilduff’s 28th birthday and was his second goal in the group stages of the competition, following his equaliser against AZ Alkmaar.

The win sees Dundalk sitting pretty in second place in Group D, with an impressive four points from their first two games.
