Memphis Depay scored a long-range wonder-strike for Lyon on Sunday, with the Dutch winger’s brace helping his side to a 4-0 home win against Toulouse.
Goals from Christophe Jallet, Maxwel Cornet and Depay with his first, had put Lyon in the driving seat at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, before late on the former Man Utd flop produced one of the goals of the season.
Picking up the ball just inside the Toulouse half, Depay noticed teenage keeper Alban Lafont off his line, before launching a long-range effort which sailed into the back of the net.
After the game, Depay said:
I didn’t even see the ball go in, I just heard everyone go crazy.
I had tried one like that a few years ago and it hit the bar.
I saw the goalkeeper was playing off his line in the first half and I kept that in the back of my mind.
Depay has now netted a healthy five goals in nine league games for Lyon as he continues to kickstart a career which had stalled at Old Trafford.
Lyon stay fourth in Ligue 1, a whopping 18 points behind leaders Monaco while Toulouse are 11th.
