Two goals (including a last-minute winner) from Isco saw Real Madrid come from behind not once but twice to beat Sporting Gijon and remain three points (and a game in hand) clear of Barcelona at the top of La Liga.
Without Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema or Gareth Bale in the starting line-up, it was left to Isco to pull the strings – with the 24-year-old attacking midfielder proving once again that he is far too good to be left to wither on the bench.
Indeed, Isco’s first of the evening was a peach, as he went tip-toeing through the Gijon penalty area before whacking one into the top corner…
His second was just as impressive, with a precise low shot from the edge of the area securing a dramatic win for Los Blancos with seconds of normal time left to play…
Wondering what that celebration was all about? Allow us to fill you in.
During the previous week, Isco met a young Real fan at a meet-and-greet session who asked the player to sign “I love you” to her deaf parents.
Sure enough, after tucking away the winner against Gijon, Isco kept up his end of the bargain…
This child’s parents are deaf, so she asked Isco to celebrate with this hand sign which means “I love you” if he scored against Gijon 😭❤️❤️ pic.twitter.com/lywrkBnAXS
