The Republic of Ireland enjoyed a morale-boosting 3-1 win against Uruguay on Sunday, ahead of next week’s World Cup qualifier against Austria.
Jonathan Walters scored the goal of the game on 28 minutes, with the Stoke attacker producing a superb long-range effort.
Jose Giminez levelled the scores before the break, before Walters then somehow contrived to miss an open goal from all of two yards, with his effort coming back off the crossbar.

On 51 minutes, Cyrus Christie made it 2-1 to the Irish, via a cross-shot.
Late on, James McClean sealed the win for the hosts courtesy of a fine solo effort.
The win, against a Uruguay side without Luis Suarez, sets up the Boys in Green nicely ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifying clash with Austria next weekend.
