England youth’s terrific summer contined on Saturday with Keith Downing’s side lifting the European U19 title courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Portugal in the final in Georgia.

Aston Villa’s Easah Suliman opened the score for England, heading home soon after half-time.

However, Portugal drew level soon after when Chelsea’s Dujon Sterling somehow volleyed into his own net.

England’s hopes of sealing the victory were made harder when Fulham’s Tayo Edun was sent off for a second yellow card, leaving the Young Lions a man short for the final nine minutes.

However, Man City starlet Lukas Nmecha was duly on hand to win the game for the English, courtesy of a routine tap-in in the 68th minute…

The win made it three titles in two months for England’s youngsters, following victories in both the Under-20 World Cup and Toulon Tournament.

With England also making it to the semi-finals of the European U21 Championship in Poland this summer, the future is looking very bright indeed for English football.
