With the Republic of Ireland hosting Denmark, there’s a fair chance the beer would’ve been flowing whoever came out on top in Tuesday night’s World Cup play-off second leg in Dublin.

Alas, it was the Danes who ended the night triumphant and in some style too, snuffing out Irish hopes with a Christian Eriksen-inspired 5-1 thumping at the Aviva Stadium.

Sure enough, the post-match celebrations took on a boozy theme, with the players making a bee-line to the pitchside Eurosport punditry desk (a la Sweden the night before) to give ex-international defender Lars Jacobsen a thorough soaking…

The beer then continued to flow, with coach Age Hareide also bearing the frothy brunt…
