Swansea City put eight past League Two Notts County on Tuesday, as the revitalised Premier Leaguers cruised into the fifth round of the FA Cup in some style.
Despite making seven changes to his starting XI, Swans boss Carlos Carvalhal saw his side romp to victory in the replay, with Tammy Abraham ending his goal drought after just 18 minutes.
Within two minutes, the home side were 2-0 up, with Abraham assisting Nathan Dyer, who would then go on to net his second of the game on the half-hour mark.
The Magpies did manage to get one back, with Noor Husin firing past Kristoffer Nordfeldt in the Swansea goal.
However, Abraham would get his second of the game just before the break as the top flight side continued to thoroughly outclass their lower-league opposition.
The second half would see goals from Kyle Naughton, Wayne Routldge, Tom Carroll and 20-year-old debutante Daniel James, with Carroll’s in particular being something of a beauty.
Here’s all the action from the game which would end 8-1 to Swansea.
That 8-1 victory is Swansea’s biggest ever winning margin in the FA Cup, as Carvalhal continues to rejuvenate the Welsh side. It also sets up an intriguing fifth-round tie with the Portuguese coach’s former side Sheffield Wednesday.
As for Kevin Nolan and his Notts County side, they can focus on their quest for promotion to League One, once they’ve licked their considerable wounds, of course.
