Melbourne Victory emerged… well, victorious in the big Melbourne derby clash against Melbourne City on Thursday evening, racking up a 2-1 win to move within a point of their rivals in the A-League standings.
However, the triumphant margin could and most definitely should have been a little wider considering the golden chance presented to Victory forward James Troisi in the dying seconds of the match.
Having already played eight minutes of stoppage time, Victory coughed the ball out of a goalmouth scramble and embarked on a counter-attack with City goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis stranded at the wrong end of the field.
Alas, the adrenaline began to build as Troisi bared down on Bouzani’s vacant net until, at the critical moment, the excitement got the better of him…
Why didn't he take another touch?! 😂
