Mired in a relegation scrap and desperately needing to get points on the board, the fates conspired to rob Woking FC of a draw down in the National League this weekend.

Having slogged their way to a valiant 2-2 scoreline against top-of-the-table Macclesfield Town, the Cardinals’ resolve was eventually broken in the 94th minute – though the goal was oh so preventable.

Indeed, a churned-up goalmouth was all it took for Woking’s defence to quite literally take their eye off the ball as Danny Whitehead slipped in to score Macclesfield’s winner…

Oh dear.

Woking remain in 19th in the National League pile, dangling just two places and three points above the drop zone with six matches to play.

I love the player who originally thinks he’s scored running away before the ball is in the net, he looks gutted at the end
