With a fixture pile-up to slog through, Alvechurch FC are due to play host to Bedworth United in the Evo-Stick Northern Premier League on Monday afternoon.
Unfortunately, a night of torrential rain left the match hanging in the balance, with the league confirming that the fixture would be subject to a pitch inspection on the morning of the game.

Sure enough, Alvechurch ventured out to check on the playing surface, only to stumble across what can only be described as a portent sign from the footballing gods…

Personally, we’d take that as an omen, chaps.
Match off. Stay in bed.

UPDATE: Alvechurch’s match against Bedworth has since been officially abandoned after league authorities correctly ascertained that a pitch suitable for wading water fowl definitely isn’t suitable for staging a football match.
