For somebody who recently scored his 100th goal for Inter Milan, Mauro Icardi certainly made a decent fist of passing himself off as a rank amateur when presented with a glorious chance to break the ice in Wednesday night’s Derby della Madonnina.

With the scoreline still stuck at 0-0 as the hour mark approached, Inter finally carved out a chance to nudge in front – Antonio Candreva rolling a relatively tame ball across the six-yard box for the unmarked Icardi to tap home.

Sadly, despite being five yards out from an open goal, the Argentinian striker just couldn’t provide the finish…

Ouch – and this coming soon after Icardi had seen a perfectly decent goal ruled out for offside by VAR despite the lines on the pitch clearly demonstrating otherwise.

At time of writing, things are still goalless with 10 minutes left to play.
