Olympiakos saw their faint hopes of gaining any ground on the Greek Super League summit well and truly shellacked on Sunday when they succumbed to a 0-1 away defeat to lowly Apollon Smirnis.

Indeed, Apollon scored in the very first minute of the match and proceeded to hold on for the subsequent 90+5 as the visitors singularly failed to break down their defences.

Things began to get increasingly desperate as the match wore on, with Marko Marin (once of Chelsea) getting so discombobulated by the mounting tension that he even attempted to get the referee to send the referee off in stoppage time…

He felt contact so therefore he was entitled to go down! Oh Marko, you fabulous idiot.

The result lifted Apollon eight points above the relegation zone while leaving Olympiakos stranded 12 points behind league leaders AEK Athens with just two matches left to play.
