Yeovil Town didn’t leave Notts County with an awful lot to crow about after slumping to a heavy 4-1 defeat against the automatic promotion hopefuls.

However, the Glovers now have at least one accolade to show for their efforts after the EFL awarded their ‘Goal of the Weekend’ nod to defender Tom James.

Unfortunately for James, his goal wasn’t Yeovil’s consolation strike – no, in fact it was actually County’s second goal of the afternoon, and a remarkable 20-yard screamer it was too…

“Sorry Tom James, but this first-time left-footed strike couldn’t be ignored<” the EFL quipped as they bestowed their award to the Yeovil right-back over on their official Facebook page.

Talk about grinding a handful of coarse sea salt into the wound.

Unless this lad has a reputation for punching kittens in his spare time, this is surely too harsh an indignity to suffer.
