Here’s a lovely little footballing curio that sees the great Zico being interviewed, quite literally in his own back yard.
Then at the very peak of his powers, the Brazilian icon is interview by an Italian (?) journalist, with conversation touching on how to deal with attentive man-markers and the market value of Zico’s children.
Further details about the clip are scarce, but we reckon it dates from around 1981/82-ish as the interviewer ends up kissing Zico’s “500th goal foot” – which came for Brazil in a friendly win against France at the Parc des Princes in May of 1981.
Fabulously informal nugget of goodness there, from an era where everybody looked like Don Henley.
Flamengo towel on display in the background too. Nice to see Zico was a company man to the very core.
