It took a 91st-minute penalty from our old friend Hatem Ben Arfa, but Rennes kicked off their Europa League campaign with a 2-1 win over Jablonec on Thursday night.

The French side’s opening goal came half-an-hour in and bloody hell did it arrive like a sonic boom when Ismaila Sarr absolutely leathered one in from 20 yards…

Jablonec went onto equalise through Michal Travnik early in the second half before Ben Arfa, on as a substitute, snatched the win for the Ligue 1 side in the final knockings of the game – their first ever victory in European competition at the 14th attempt.
