Guangzhou R&F ground out a 1-1 draw with Chongqing Lifan in the Chinese Super League on Sunday evening, a result that didn’t do either side much of a favour.

However, mid-table Guangzho can at least take some comfort in the fact they scored the most ludicrous own-goal of the CSL weekend, with Huang Zhengyu taking the honours through no fault of his own.

With the ball bobbling around the six-yard box and players scrabbling around on their haunches, Guangzhou centre-back Yi Teng attempted to launch a heroic clearance up the pitch.

However, he proceeded to blast it directly into the ribs of his defensive partner Zhengyu, with the ball ricocheting forlornly into the back of the pair’s unguarded net…

Blushes were spared when Xiao Zhi equalised for Guangzhou roughly 10 minutes later, but unfortunately the whole debacle had already been caught on several cameras.
