Lorius Karius added yet another calamitous error to his portfolio on Thursday night as his Besiktas side slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Malmo in the Europa League.

The Swedish side’s opening goal came in the 53rd minute, when a deflected cross from Andreas Vindheim deflected of Besiktas defender Caner Erkin and somehow made its way underneath Karius’ crossbar as the on-loan Liverpool ‘keeper flailed away in vain…

Here’s a second video for anybody geo-locked out of the first one…

Perhaps it’s a little harsh to blame Karius entirely, but a goalkeeper’s positioning and judgement must surely be called into question when a slow, looping ‘shot’ from a wide angle somehow ends up rustling the back of the net.

A 76th-minute Marcus Rosenberg penalty compounded Besiktas’ miserable night, leaving the Turkish side second-bottom of Group I (above Malmo), though level on points with everybody else in the group with two games played apiece.

Do you know why they put a little rubber on the end of pencils ? Well let me enlighten you. It’s because we all make mistakes occasionally ! Leave this guy alone before he tops himself. And no I’m not a red quite the opposite blue through and through.
