For the second time in successive seasons, Mauro Icardi beat the buzzer and struck in injury time to dramatically settle the ‘home’ Derby della Madonnina in Inter’s favour on Sunday evening.

With the game goalless as the 92nd minute wicked away, Matias Vecino walloped a blind cross toward the far post that, somewhat fortuitously, found Icardi as he darted away from his marker.

The Argentinian striker then promptly rose to nod the ball beneath the sprawling tarantula limbs of Milan ‘keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to steal the win…

Here’s a closer look at Icardi’s zig-zag movement, which helped him momentarily escape the orbit of fellow countryman Mateo Musacchio…

The goal came almost a year to the day that Icardi rattled away a 91st-minute penalty to complete his hat-trick and complete a 3-2 derby victory for Inter during the early knockings of the 2017/18 campaign.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man – well, sometimes anyway.

Sign him up, Woodward.. it’d make a nice change to have a centre-forward who actually moves
