On a shrill November night in the north, Huddersfield finally managed to grind out their first victory of the 2018/19 Premier League season.

Almost three years to the day since manager David Wagner took over, the Terriers scored early-ish and held on to beat a flimsy Fulham side who slid to the bottom of the league upon the sound of the final whistle.

The decisive goal was scored by Christopher Schindler shortly before half-time, though it was actually logged as a Timothy Fosu-Mensah own-goal on the official score sheet…

In further drought-related news, Schindler’s header also ended Huddersfield’s barren run of 658 minutes without a home league goal to speak of. Before Monday evening, the last time they troubled the back of an opposing net at the John Smith’s Stadium was when Tom Ince scored against Watford back in April.

As for Fulham, another soft, directionless display has only served to increase the pressure on Slavisa Jokanovic’s position, despite club owner Shahid Khan recently insisting he’s willing to give his manager up until around Christmas time to “hit his stride” properly.

For now, the Cottagers sink to 20th, replacing Huddersfield at the bottom, who themselves have leapt up into the giddy heights of 18th.
