England booked their place in the finals of the UEFA Nations League after a 2-1 comeback win over Croatia at Wembley on Sunday.

The Three Lions impressed in the first -half, with Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling both failing to make the most of good chances.

After the break, it was Croatia who would open the scoring, with Andrej Kramaric turning the England backline before seeing his effort deflect past Jordan Pickford and into the back of the net.

1-0 down, England were heading for relegation from the elite group in the Nation’s League.

However, on 78 minutes, sub Jesse Lingard prodded home from point-blank to get the hosts back into the game.

Lingard had also cleared off the line at the other end of the pitch, with both him and fellow sub Jadon Sancho having a real impact on the game.

With the Wembley crowd behind them, England would ultimately score the winner, courtesy of a sliding effort from Kane from a Ben Chilwell free-kick.

The victory sees England finish top of their group, ahead of Spain, with Croatia, who knocked the Three Lions out of the World Cup semi-finals in the summer, relegated.

While the competition remains little more than a glorified set of friendlies, the victories over Spain and now Croatia highlight the real progression made under Southgate.
