Despite looking a little bit pap for the majority of the game, famously goal-shy midfielder Nicky Butt (we’re talking 29 goals during a professional career that began way back in the primordial mists of 1992) netted directly from a free-kick on his debut for Hong Kong outfit South China against HKFA league rivals TSW Pegasus.
However, just six minutes down the line Butt reverted to type as he chipped a penalty against the bar and then proceeded to shank the volleyed rebound horribly wide…
…Alas, I fear Butt’s deployment as creative playmaker may tell you all you need to know about the current standard of the HKFA.
