In which Palermo striker Fabrizio Miccoli singularly fails to hold back the flood after netting a wonderfully whipped free-kick against his boyhood club Lecce…

Having scored against the love of his life, Miccoli then had to be substituted at half-time with Rosanero coach Delio Rossi telling journalists that the diminutive forward was ‘absolutely inconsolable’ at the though of ‘injuring’ Lecce’s survival chances.

The man himself also had this to say after the game:

“It is true, I started crying and I couldn’t stop. I cried on the pitch after the goal, I cried in the dressing room. Lecce is my team and I hurt them, it is like hurting an old friend.”

Poor lickle lamb.

  2. Markell says:

A week after Fernandwhore Torres says that players dont care about the shirt, and this happens. Beautiful, good on Fabrizio! It shows that the true spirit of football is not dead, despite all current reports.
Also, Denis Law did not grow up supporting Manchester United, as he supported Aberdeen in Scotland. he also played for Manchester City before he played for United, so it wasnt the same.

LOL@Davy. Great article. Great to see this reaction. This would be the reaction if I scored against my beloved Barnet (if I was playing for a top flight club, oh and if Barnet were in the Premiership:D

Great emotion shown to a boy hood club. I have a feeling Cesc may react like this next Wednesday.

  5. Tinez says:

The only club Torres really cares about is Atletico, Liverpool was a career move, as now is Chelsea. Get over that.

Delightful to see this from Miccoli, proving just what it means to really support a club. All glory hunters should see this clip.
