AFC Bournemouth supporters staged an impromptu ‘protest’ after the final whistle of their 3-0 home defeat to Chesterfield on Saturday, which basically involved a mass haranguing of owner Eddie Mitchell for his decision to flog off seven of the players that saw the Cherries reach the League One play-offs last season after being promoted from League Two the season prior.
Mitchell then nabbed a microphone and took to the pitch to argue his corner – inviting one lucky leather jacket-clad fan in particular back to his office for a one-on-one debate as to the pros and cons of the club’s recent transfer policy…

The fans’ concerns over re-investment are perfectly valid but, given that the man has saved the club from liquidation twice and only sold his leading lights (for a total of £4.5 million) this summer to ease the relentless strain on the coffers, you’d think that Mitchell would command a little more leeway in and around Dean Court wouldn’t you?
Oi, silly football men. Stop being so silly.
