David Beckham, to Robbie Keane, to Landon Donovan. Goal. Trophy. It sounds like something from a ridiculously tawdry soccer movie, but Donovan’s goal was enough to snare the MLS Cup in front of a record crowd at the Home Depot Centre in Los Angeles – landing Becks, who had to overcome injury and illness to play, with his first Stateside silverware in what is looking increasingly likely to be his last competitive match for the Galaxy (his contract expires next month, after a tour of Indonesia and the Philippines).

As for Keane, it’s not been a bad old week for him either – captaining his country to the European Championships a few days before landing the MLS title in his debut season.

Well played chaps, hearty handshakes all round.

    Nice Work, Chris! Lightning fast.

Big Congrats to Becks, he really deserves it. Good to see Keano putting in a classy assist too. Scored a dissalowed goal that should have stood.

  2. Rory says:

Decent goal, lovely link play by Keane the whole way through the game!

  3. Bruno says:

    Congratulations! Great professional

Landon Donovan has a forehead like a drive in theatre.

  5. Rob says:

When Beckham predictably said winning the MLS cup was the same as winning the Premier league, Champions league, and FA cup, you could almost see his nose growing.

  6. John says:

    Good play be Keane.

I wonder what Beckhams going to do now, I’d be sad if he decided to retire.

  7. Grant says:

The Galaxy have won back to back Supporters’ Shields. So that actually makes it 3 trophies in 5 years. Not a bad haul.

I think it’s most likely Becks will end up in Paris to sell some PSG shirts. I wonder how much of a hissy fit Adidas will have when his name is selling oodles of Nike jerseys… actually, that could be a huge sticking point in the transfer, truth be told.

Herbalife ia s mighty shitty (and equally shady) company to wear on their kits… tztztz

Their “dietary/ nutritional supplements” have gotten under fire for being overpriced, crap & causing liver fails and hepatitits, among other things.
Also distribution functions like a pyramid scheme… Among others they also sponsor Messi & Barça. Hmm.

Wearing that sends the wrong message imo.
