Nice of them to delay pulling the plug on April Fool’s Day, but West Brom have officially cut Alan Pardew adrift in the wake of Saturday’s home defeat against Burnley.

The Baggies are bottom of the league, a full 10 points from safety with six games left to play and on the wrong end of a run of eight successive Premier League defeats.

Pardew has overseen just one solitary victory (against Brighton) since taking over at the Hawthorns in late November, and that came over two months ago.

West Brom have also confirmed that Pardew’s long-serving lackey, assistant John Carver, has also been jettisoned, with first-team coach Darren Moore stepping into the managerial breach as caretaker until a replacement can be somehow fooled into taking the job on a permanent basis.

Played 18, won one, drawn five, lost 12, goals for 13, goals against 30, points eight (from a possible 54) and a 14% win ratio overall. ‘Pards’ should never be allowed to manage a Premier League team again.

It’s just a shame that the club will get relegated this season without him tied to the mast.

Mission: Destroy and Exit, accomplished… again.

    Bit harsh!

I agree – both the sacking and the write-up by Pies are a bit harsh.

The shenanigans earlier in the season with the players in Barcelona, as well as the removal of the board clearly point to much deeper issues at the club. There was not much activity in January and likely little support for Pards – he’s by no means a bad manager, just seems to be the wrong club at the wrong time.

I’m always surprised when The media and pundits stick the knife into clubs and managers above the drop zone – 3 teams will always go down each season; why not the baggies? They seem to be going down fighting; I don’t watch them much but they play some good football at times.

Good luck to both parties anyhow.
