West Ham United 0-1 Crystal Palace – Premier League 19th April 2014
Whatever you think about Tony Pulis’ prosaic brand of football, you’ve got to admire the Welshman’s ability to organise teams and keep them in the top division. On Saturday, Pulis’ Crystal Palace were deserved 1-0 winners against a poor West Ham side, with Mile Jedinak’s penalty (after Cameron Jerome has been fouled by Pablo Armero) the only goal of the game.
The Hammers tried to utilise Andy Carroll’s aerial; threat as often as possible but ultimately they couldn’t get that vital goal. Palace are now assured of their place in next season’s Premier League, a superb feat by Pulis considering they were bottom of the table when he took over.
