Never far from a Twitter gaffe, West Ham chairman David Gold has once again managed to drop a sizeable clanger over on his official account.
Having previously favourited Tweets about sacking his manager, welcomed the arrival of one black player with a photo of another and even supported a ‘missing persons’ plea for one of his own signings in the recent past, the Hammers chairman’s latest clanger has seen him retweet an angry message from a fan calling for Carl Jenkinson to “f**k off”.
The message began with a glowing appraisal of Gold’s work at West Ham, which obviously caught the co-owner’s eye, before going on to denounce right-back Jenkinson as “utter w*nk” – a sentiment seemingly advocated by Gold himself, who then also appeared to assure the fan that Sam Byram had been brought in as a direct replacement…
D’oh. Either Gold has got a major case of the sausage fingers or he needs to employ a social media team pronto.
