West Ham have been forced into apologising after accidentally leaking the personal information of over 500 fans in an email about Carabao Cup tickets.

The Hammers were attempting to confirm successful ticket applications for next week’s Carabao Cup match against AFC Wimbledon.

However, the club also inadvertently CC’ed the email addresses of every single recipient into every single individual email, meaning hundreds of contact details were circulated to any and all.

Not quite finished there, they then tried to rectify the situation by sending a second email to urge supporters to disregard the first, only to make the same mistake twice, according to Sky Sports.

The West Ham ticket office duly apologised and assured those fans affected that “no information beyond their email address” had been shared before confirming that the matter had been reported to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

What a football club.
