Just when you think West Ham must have hit rock bottom the situation seems to get worse for Alan Pardew and his team. After Tuesday’s embarrassing Carling Cup defeat to Chesterfield, it has now emerged that captain Nigel Reo-Coker and Marlon Harewood were involved in a training ground bust-up before the match. The Sun reports that the incident kicked off after Harewood lost possession in a practice game.

And if that wasn’t bad enough for Hammers fans, the Mirror claims Sven Goran Eriksson is now the firm favourite to replace Pardew. West Ham officials apparently held secret talks with Eriksson last week and he would be brought in immediately if the Hammers lose to Blackburn on Sunday. Chairman Terence Brown has also given Pardew a watered down version of the dreaded vote of confidence.
