A gentlemanly doff of the cap is definitely due to veteran Germany striker Miroslav Klose who came on and scored his 15th World Cup goal to equalise against Ghana tonight, thus equalling Ronaldo’s all-time tournament goal record.

That said, he almost binned his somersault celebration but he’s 36 so we’ll forgive him…

Spookily, Klose’s goal has thrown up a strange statistical kink: Ronaldo scored his 15th World Cup goal against Ghana in Germany; Klose scored his 15th World Cup goal against Ghana in Brazil.

    You’d have thought injuring himself while doing that celebration would’ve persuaded him to knock it on the head, but I see he still hasn’t learned

    Ronaldo will always be my favourite player. if it wasn’t for the injuries he’d have got more.
