Premier League pair Anthony Martial and Alexandre Lacazette are just two of the big names to have missed the cut after France manager Didier Deschamps named his 2018 World Cup squad.

Other prominent names and recent call-ups to be left out include Dimitri Payet (Marseille), Adrien Rabiot (PSG), Aymeric Laporte (Man City), Kingsley Coman (Bayern Munich), Tiemouie Bakayoko (Chelsea), Moussa Sissoko (Tottenham) and Hissam Ben Yedder (Sevilla).

Indeed, Deschamps has also chucked a few surprise inclusions in there for good measure too, with 22-year-old Bejamin Pavard of Stuttgart chief among them.

The France 2018 World Cup squad in full…

Goalkeepers: Hugo Lloris (Tottenham), Steve Mandanda (Marseille), Alphonse Areola (PSG)

Defenders: Lucas Hernandez (Atletico Madrid), Presnel Kimpembe (PSG), Benjamin Mendy (Man City), Benjamin Pavard (Stuttgart), Adil Rami (Marseille), Djibril Sidibe (Monaco), Samuel Umtiti (Barcelona), Raphael Varane (Real Madrid)

Midfielders: N’Golo Kante (Chelsea), Blaise Matuidi (Juventus), Steven N’Zonzi (Sevilla), Paul Pogba (Manchester United), Corentin Tolisso (Bayern Munich)

Forwards: Ousmane Dembele (Barcelona), Nabil Fekir (Lyon), Olivier Giroud (Chelsea), Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid), Thomas Lemar (Monaco), Kylian Mbappe (PSG), Florian Thauvin (Marseille)

That’s some strong fromage, right there.

It should perhaps be mentioned that both Martial and Lacazette have both been named on Les Bleus’ official reserve list, along with Ben Yedder, Coman, Rabiot, Sissoko, Benoit Costil, Mathieu Debuchy, Lucas Digne,  Mamadou Sakho and Kurt Zouma.

Both are very overrated players. Martial is the most pedestrian player I’ve seen in years.
