An act of pure chivalry has seen Poland international Michal Pazdan earn himself a suitably heroic new nickname heading into the World Cup.
During an interview with Polish television channel TVP, the defender used his honed reactions to save reporter Sylwia Dekiert from impending doom when a lamp began to fall behind her.
Quick as a flash, Pazdan instinctively stretched out a leg and brought the lamp down gently, thus delivering Dekiert from harm’s way.

Dekiert later offered thanks to the 30-year-old via social media, dubbing him ‘Kung Fu Pazdan’ in the wake of his death-defying feat.
“The best defender in the country. I have no doubt,” the TVP reporter tweeted.
Proof if proof were needed that not all heroes wear capes.
Some play at centre-half for Legia Warsaw.
(Many thanks to Joseph Viney for the tip-off)
