A goal from Luis Suarez fired Uruguay into the last 16 of the World Cup, with the Barcelona striker nabbing the only goal of an uninspiring clash with Saudi Arabia.
Suarez, making his 100th senior appearance for Uruguay, found the back of the net on 23 minutes, scoring from close-range after Saudi ‘keeper Mohammed Al Owais flapped at a corner.
Despite conceding the goal, the Saudis impressed throughout, courtesy of a much-improved performance from their 5-0 drubbing by Russia.
As for Uruguary, they failed to sparkle, but with Suarez and Edinson Cavani in attack, they had the cutting edge their opponents lacked.
Oscar Tabarez’s side face Russia in their final group game on Monday, with both sides already through.
The Green Falcons, on the other hand, will be looking to sign off from their campaign with a win against Egypt.
